Becoming
a Christian
A
choice – yes – God in love lets us choose
A
change of masters – yes- from Satan’s many enslaving devices
A
connection with God – yes -becoming a child of God
A
calling to a different destination – yes – heaven instead of hell
But
please ponder for a moment the function of God’s Holy Spirit in all this.
The Lord Jesus said that the Holy Spirit
would convict – that means, He would enlighten and activate the conscience, so
that we understand our need of forgiveness and restoration to God.
The Holy Spirit is the revealer of Jesus
Christ, the Son of God.
His
enlightenment makes the promises of God true to faith and thus the believer is
brought from fear, to peace with God.
The Bible becomes an understandable and
precious book.
The leading of the Holy Spirit of God leads
to:-
1
Prayer
in the relationship with God the Father
2
Baptism
to identify with Christ
3
Right
living as disciples to follow the Good Shepherd.
The
Holy Spirit inspired record of Jesus Christ – past, present and future , creates
joy, singing, praise, and thanksgiving.
The
enlightenment of truth brings hope for the future which enables endurance in trial and love
beyond the natural – God’s kind of love.
These
things may well be assisted by other believers, but fundamentally it is God at
work in the life of an individual. The Holy Spirit changes us from what was
normal in the old life, to what God intends in the new life in Christ.
Sadly
we can hinder God at work.
Gladly
we can yield to the Holy Spirit doing His good work in us.
Please
read the Bible book Titus, Chapter 3, verses 3 to 8
And
maybe leave me a comment.
