Shock predictions

It was coming to Passover week

The temple that had been expanded and embellished by King Herod was indeed something spectacular. A model of it can be seen in Jerusalem or on youtube. So I can understand the admiration of the disciples :- " Master look at these tremendous buildings". What a disappointment was the response of the Lord Jesus.

"These magnificent buildings will be so completely demolished that not one stone will be left on top of another" (Mark 13:2)

And so it happened , just as Jesus said – AD70, the Roman army reduced it to rubble and all that is left is the 'western wall'.

If the Lord Jesus could so accurately predict that, then we had better listen to the remaining predictions of chapter 13. The highlight prophecy is Mark 13:26:

"Then everyone will see the Son of Man (Jesus) arrive on the clouds with great power and glory." This could happen soon.

When God rises up to judge the world, Jesus predicted that it would involve extreme horrors, but the end result would be good – righteousness will control the earth, Jesus Christ will be King, all of His subjects will be given honour, glory and authority. The crucial question now is – whose side of the impending conflict are we on – Jesus Christ or anti-christ. The urgency of the moment is found in the reply of Jesus :

" Don't let anyone mislead you" (13:5)

Religion has many deceptions. The commercial world is marked by corruption. The political world is often seeking to usurp the place of Jesus Christ.

Today, many despise Jesus.

Tomorrow Jesus will be King of kings and Lord of Lords.
